My Story
It all started when I locked my mom out of her IBM laptop when I was 6 years old. The amusement I got from doing this was a small domino that eventually led to me building my own computers to play games, to actively taking the time to learn about and write software. I remember my first class was an AP Computer Science class at my high school. It was not a very good class, but the people in it made it fun.
I began to take programming more seriously when I took an intro to programming class at Clark College with this eccentric professor of mine. He was fantastic and really cemented my interest in the field. I remember staying up all night until 6 or 7 AM finishing my final project with my best friend who was also in the class with me. It was a local multiplayer poker game and the professor gave us one of the highest scores, which I believe part of it was because of seeing our relentless dedication to his course, which could only be expressed by our zombie-like appearance during our presentation due to the lack of sleep.
I went to Pullman my first year out of high school and learned absolutely nothing, for obvious reasons. I did manage to become one of the founding fathers of ΔΚΕ at WSU right before I left, so that was pretty cool. I soon transferred back and got my AA degree at Clark College and transferred to WSU Vancouver to focus on academics.
This couldn't have happened at a worse time though because 3 months later, lockdowns began. COVID really screwed with me, I'm not gonna lie. It was a very weird time, but by 2022 I locked in and kept doing well in my classes up until graduation. I had some really amazing professors at the WSU Vancouver Computer Science department that gave me the foundation and technical aptitude to do anything I put my mind to. I was a campus reporter during this time so that was pretty fun. For my capstone, my team and I got to partner with a local payroll and equipment management company, Silvertrek Systems. This was a formative experience as I learned a lot about frontend design and database management through building their client portal with the rest of my team.
Afterwards, I worked as a software tester at PLUS QA in Portland and got the opportunity to work on a variety of projects and applications for large companies like Nike, OpenAI, and Dropbox. My role as an analyst was ensuring the function, design, and performance of the provided app builds were high quality and complaint with accessibility guidelines through rigorous testing on multiple platforms and devices. I did this for about 9 months before I decided that I wanted to pursue graduate school for Fall 2025 at the Gabelli School of Business in New York.
Outside of school and work, I enjoy dabbling in the arts and learning more about machine learning.
